Elaine Guarnieri-Nunn

Elaine Guarnieri-Nunn is the Director of Facing History's San Francisco Bay Area office. For over twenty years, she has worked to bring high quality teachers to high needs schools in California. Prior to joining Facing History, Elaine was the Executive Director of EnCorps, a non-profit that helps skilled professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teach these subjects to younger generations.

Recently, I drove from Facing History’s office in the East Bay to Silicon Valley to attend a youth civic hackathon. As I passed by the giant “like” sign at Facebook’s sprawling campus on One Hacker Way in Menlo Park, I found myself thinking about hacking, technology, social media status updates, and also about empathy.
